The Slow Demise Of Laptop Computers

The numbers say it all when it comes to the rise in popularity of the tablet form of computers. The iPad continues to lead the charge in changing the landscape of how the computing public handles their computer needs. In the first half of this year Nielsen put out the results of a survey that indicated that all computing roads are headed toward the full adoption of the tablet form.

I will use our family as an example as we presently have two laptops in our family that both my wife and I use and as our two kids get older they are starting to have computing needs as well for their school work. We were recently faced with the decision of either getting a new laptop to replace one of the older one’s and give it to the kids for their school work or look at some of the cheaper tablets that are on the market now.

The average price of the laptops that we were looking at ranged between $300 to $500 dollars which is about average now a days. Well we eventually decided on getting two of the Vizio tablets for the kids and we got both of them for the price of that one laptop.  Price wise it was really a no brainer as we got two for the price of one and for what they are going to be used for their abilities fit the bill perfectly. We just figured that the way the mobile market is going and everything seems to be going towards a touch screen that computers with keyboards are going to be history sooner than later.

First it was desktops well now it appears that laptops are not far behind as they both become gadgets of the past. What say you webfolk? How much longer do you think desktops and laptops will last? Will eventually see a gadget to replace the tablet as well? Leave your interesting responses in the comments section down below. For those of you that want to know more about that nielsen survey that I was referring to here is the link to that post over at the Clickz website.

Kudos to you webfolk ;-)
